Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
Creamy oatmeal cooked with sautéed apples, cinnamon, and warm spices.
Ingredients
- 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 medium crisp apple, about 1 1/2 cups diced
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup (or honey)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- pinch of salt
- 2 cups milk of choice
- 1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or sliced almonds
Instructions

Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the diced apple and cook for 3-4 minutes until slightly softened.

Add the maple syrup, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and salt. Stir to coat the apples and cook for another 2 minutes.

Pour in the milk and bring to a gentle simmer. Stir in the oats and reduce heat to low.

Cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender and creamy.

Remove from heat and serve topped with chopped walnuts or sliced almonds.
Notes
- Use any crisp apple variety: Honeycrisp, Cosmic Crisp, or Gala work well.
- For a creamier texture, use whole milk.
- To make it vegan, use coconut oil, almond milk, and maple syrup.
